The new pickleball complex approved in Ocoee now has an official name: Prime Pickleball Ocoee. What many residents may not know is that it will be the second Prime Pickleball location to open in Orlando.
Vasant Sports, the company behind the project, is preparing to launch its first facility, Prime Pickleball Orlando, at 115 Goldenrod Road, Orlando, FL 32807. That site will feature six fully air-conditioned courts with cushioned surfaces designed to reduce strain on players’ knees. It is expected to open by December 2025 or January 2026.
“The Goldenrod site is a place where we want to experiment with the playing surface,” said partner Sravan Tummala. “We believe cushioned courts will help absorb shock and keep players’ knees in better shape compared to traditional concrete.”
Tummala has long been part of racket sports. He grew up in India playing badminton, later played racquetball in the United States for nearly 20 years, and has been a pickleball player for the past five. Through his Golden Paddle Pickleball Club, he has organized more than 20 tournaments across Florida.
Tummala moved to Orlando in 2015 after years in New Jersey, expecting only to stay for six months. The climate, which reminded him of his home in India, and the community convinced him to remain.
Prime Pickleball Ocoee will have 25 indoor, air conditioned courts and one outdoor championship court with bleacher seating. The facility will also feature a restaurant and bar overlooking the courts, a banquet hall, a pro shop, locker rooms, saunas and space for kids to enjoy arcade games. Wellness is also part of the vision, with plans to explore hyperbaric oxygen therapy for recovery.
Tummala and his 5 other partners are entrepreneurs with backgrounds in IT, real estate, medical and retail businesses. Together, they see the potential to bring national tournaments with 1,000 or more players while also creating a place for local residents to gather.
From the start, they took local concerns about noise seriously. After early plans for outdoor courts raised questions, the team visited Pictona to record sound levels and used those findings to guide their design. The final concept centers on indoor, air-conditioned courts to honor their neighbors while still creating a tournament ready venue.
