Summer began with a big splash in Orlando, as Florida Fashion Shows hosted their annual Swim Week event which took place over 3 days across the Orlando area. Global designers from Colombia and London traveled to Orlando to join local designers in showcasing their latest Summer swim and resort wear to the community. The three day event was a great example that Orlando has the attention of the global community beyond the theme parks.
Among those who attended was Orlando-based public artist Jefrë, whose sculptures and installations have helped shape the visual identity of communities throughout Central Florida and beyond. Known for creating landmark public art that reflects the culture and character of a city, Jefrë spoke about the role fashion and creativity play in Orlando's growing cultural landscape.
“Fashion is art, and art is fashion. It’s amazing how this event by Nayrouz allows an opportunity for people to express how we live and how we express joy and love in Orlando, just like you would see in other big cities like New York, Paris, and Miami,” said Jefrë.

Florida Fashion Shows founder Nayrouz Olarte has brought her expertise and passion for fashion to Orlando through the creation of events that connect local and international talent. Believing in the city's potential as a destination for creativity and entrepreneurship, she has worked to build opportunities for designers, models, and industry professionals while fostering a stronger sense of community through fashion.
"Nayrouz, my sister-in-law, has always been an inspiration to me," Nataly Olarte told Orlando Life. "Seeing how far she has gone in fashion and accomplished all of this is very inspiring. She's a woman that I really look up to."
The three day weekend kicked off with Party in Ibiza, a stunning rooftop runway show that took place on the top of the Chase Building in downtown Orlando. The event featured jewelry by Vera and Vogue, and fashion by international and local designers Naiduth Geles and Claudia Gutierrez. Complete with the atmospheric backdrop of Downtown Orlando’s skyline, this Mediterranean inspired evening showcased some of the freshest new Summer styles to Orlando’s most fashionable crowd.
The works of Claudia Gutierrez, a local Floridian designer originally from Bogota, Colombia, opened the show. Showcasing her exquisite line of airy staples for a Summer wardrobe, Gutierrez describes her collection as “an expansion of her vision into pieces designed to move effortlessly with the modern woman”.
International designer, Naiduth Geles, and her line of sophisticated Summer cocktail attire and casualwear closed the evening, bringing a unique touch of elegance and charm. Geles travelled abroad from Valledupar, Colombia to showcase her fashion at Orlando Swim Week and attend the festivities of the weekend. Geles prides her collections on the infusion of style, character, and love, shining through in her unique and thoughtful designs.

Day two of the weekend brought health and wellness to the forefront with the Wellness Edit. In partnership with World of Wellness, this event brought an action packed afternoon of group fitness, wellness seminars, and a number of walk up experiences by local businesses and organizations. The Wellness Edit emphasized the importance of feeling good to look good, exemplifying how wellness and fashion go hand in hand.
One of the standout attendees of the afternoon was Dr. Isabel Uribe, a reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeon who travelled from Medellin, Colombia to be in attendance at Orlando Swim Week. Dr. Uribe is the Co-Founder and Scientific Director of Cliniq, a globally acclaimed plastic surgery, aesthetic medicine, and cosmetic dentistry based in Medellin. Bringing her knowledge and expertise to Orlando, Dr. Uribe provided personal consultations at The Wellness Edit.
"Coming here from Colombia, I love what I've seen," Dr. Isabel Uribe said. "Fashion and wellness are connected everywhere. Everyone here is beautiful."
Fashion made its appearance during the event as models strutted the courtyard of Lake Nona’s Wave Hotel. The vibrant and exotic styles of Claudia Gutierrez’s swimwear collection boasted in the Summer sun, visualizing the importance of confidence and dedication to wellness in fashion.

The final day of Florida Fashion Shows Swim Week served as a reminder that rest and relaxation never go out of style. A sophisticated evening spent by the lagoon at the Conrad Hotel in Evermore Resort, A Night in St. Tropez invited a period of lounging and socialization before the final runway show of the weekend.
Accompanied by a colorful backdrop of sounds and tastes, guests came dressed in their Sunday best, as they were invited to a cocktail hour where they enjoyed a delightful assortment of hors d'oeuvres and Veuve Clicquot champagne while exploring the lineup of stylish garments fit for a fabulous Summer day.
As the sun began to set, people made their way over to the white sands of Evermore Bay, and the final runway show of the weekend commenced. The runway featured Vera and Vogue jewelry, and vivacious styles by international designers Sea Salt, and TNS. The show also featured international brand Reiss styled by Yomi Gissel bringing enchanting styles from London’s Bishopsgate. Additionally, local designers were spotlighted during the show, featuring the works of Carma by Denia Carmona, and the Prana Collection.
"Orlando is an ever-growing community that is unfortunately sometimes overlooked. People don't realize how big of a hub Orlando really is, especially when it comes to fashion and culture. Florida Fashion Shows loves to bring different cultures and really show what Orlando is made of in the fashion world," said Samantha Gut, Director of Creative Strategy for Florida Fashion Shows.
For Olarte, that recognition of Orlando's growing fashion community is exactly what she hoped Swim Week would help create.
"I'm beyond proud to see Florida Fashion Shows' vision for Swim Week starting to unfold," Nayrouz Olarte, founder and CEO of Florida Fashion Shows, told Orlando Life. "Having international designers alongside our amazing local talent from Orlando, not to mention all the love from Miami, is exactly what I dreamed of. This event has really put Orlando on the fashion map, and it's thrilling to watch it all come together. I know this is just the beginning, and I can't wait to see where we go from here."
