Why 2026 Belongs to the Intentional Networker

Let’s continue down the path of elevating our mindset and skill set heading into 2026. If you are just joining us, be sure to check out my last couple articles which precede this one.

The Problem Isn’t a Lack of Events, It’s a Lack of Intention

            • Most people still believe networking is just about events; visibility and volume.
            • The true shift: from being a “participant at a function” to becoming a presence in the room.

            Point 1: Identity Before Activity

Reflection: “Before you decide what rooms to enter, decide who you're committed to being in the rooms.”

            • The most magnetic people know who they are, what they stand for, and what their desired outcomes are.

2026 isn’t about more action, but more aligned action.

            Ask yourself:

            • What do I want to be known for and remembered as in every room?
            • What kind of conversations do I want to have?
            • What opportunities do I want to create, for myself and for others?

            Point 2: Influence Without Ego

Reflection: “People gravitate to those who are real, personable, humble, and honest.”

The most intentional person in the room isn’t the loudest, but the most grounded, aware, and outward focused.

            Ask yourself:

            • How do I embody the values I want to elevate in others?
            • Am I comparing myself to those around me or contributing to those around me?
            • Am I listening to understand or listening to reply?

Point 3: Be Excellent In Your Follow-Up

Reflection: “Lasting connection doesn’t happen in one conversation, it happens afterwards through consistency and intentionality.”

            • Create a follow-up rhythm that is personal, individualized, and thoughtful.
            • Build a follow-up cadence that adds long-term value (small gifts, strategic introductions, industry insights).

            Point 4: Honor Over Everything

Reflection: “The best networkers don’t aim to impress, they aim to honor.”

            Practice spotlighting others first:

            • Thank the event host/event sponsors
            • Introduce new connections to others in the room

Carry this mindset into every room:

            • Who can I elevate?
            • Who can I appreciate?
            • Who can I encourage?

Point 5: Build Your 2026 Circle of Intentional Influence

Reflection: “Don’t just build a network, intentionally curate a circle.”

            • Identify 5-10 people you want to go deeper with in 2026.
            • Then ask yourself how you will intentionally connect/stay connected with them.

            Develop your relational rhythms:

            • Invitations to events with you
            • Thoughtful calls or texts when they come to mind
            • Introductions to other people within your circle

Conclusion: Seek Excellence In Everything, Always

Networking isn’t solely about finding your next opportunity, it’s about being someone who creates opportunity for others.

Remember: The person who honors others, follows through with integrity, and serves with consistency, wins.

Those around me often describe me as a passionate community-builder, connector, prolific networker, and inspirational speaker. My passion for cultivating life-giving communities extends beyond my work as I serve on the Citrus Club Young Executive Board, and The Leadership Council of Junior Achievement of Central FL. I grew up in a family of seven in Massachusetts and have spent 10 years in customer service-centered roles, starting in hospitality at the age of 15. My sales career led me to Orlando in 2020, where I became a multi-million-dollar producer at Capital Office Furniture followed by playing a key role in growing the Citrus Club’s Young Executive Member Base to an all-time record percentage. Throughout my time in Orlando, I have made it my mission to build a community of influence, growth, collaboration, transformation, and belonging. My Core Values: | Honor | Integrity | Intentionality | Authenticity | Excellence | Welcome to the circle of social belonging ⭕️ 👥
