Life doesn’t really have a pause button for Amy. Between her career, family life and a weekend calendar filled with hours on the pickleball courts, she’s used to being in motion. When she’s not chasing a ball or moving between commitments, you’ll probably find her poolside with a book, squeezing in quiet moments where she can.
“I have always been active,” she said. “I grew up in the Detroit area playing soccer, and that active lifestyle carries into how I live today.”
Like many women, Amy has her self-care rituals. Manicures and pedicures were common in her house. “I cannot tell you how many mani-pedis I’ve had in my lifetime, but I can, without a doubt, tell you I’ve never said no to one,” she said with a laugh. Skincare, however, was not really part of the picture.
She remembers her grandmother dabbing on Oil of Olay at night, but beyond that, skincare was not modeled in her family. Water, soap and a little sunscreen were the extent of it.
Now living in Orlando, where the sun is out just about every day of the year, Amy finds herself thinking more about her skin. “I’m exploring this because of all the fun things we get when we’re blessed with birthdays. There’s a lot of options out there,” she said. “Cosmetic enhancements, surgeries, injectables. I just wanted to take care of myself and feel good about my skin.”
All of this led her to Revive Skincare Clinic in Winter Park, where she met with aesthetician and certified laser technician Anna Politi. Originally from Greece, Anna has built her reputation on tailoring treatments to each client’s unique skin needs. Her approach to answering her questions and focus on helping people feel confident in their own skin resonated with Amy immediately.
Together, they decided on a HydraFacial paired with dermaplaning. For Amy, the combination was the perfect entry point. It promised noticeable results without feeling overwhelming or too much.
“I did not know what to expect,” Amy said. “But Anna explained every step. It felt natural, like I was finally giving my skin what it needed.”
The session began with dermaplaning, a process where Anna used a surgical blade to carefully exfoliate the skin’s surface and remove fine peach fuzz. The result was a smoother canvas, ready to absorb the active serums of the HydraFacial that followed.
From there, the HydraFacial worked through its steps: cleansing, a mild glycolic and salicylic peel, painless extractions, customized boosters, LED light therapy and a calming finish with hyaluronic acid. In just under an hour, Amy received what Anna describes as “three treatments in one” with deep cleaning, gentle resurfacing and hydration.
When Anna handed her the mirror, Amy saw the difference instantly. “My skin just felt brighter, smoother and somehow still me,” she said. “It was not about looking different. It was about feeling refreshed.”
Beyond the skincare, the experience was about breaking a pattern. Amy had grown up without facials as part of her self-care routine, but standing in Revive’s treatment room, she realized it is never too late to start.
“I did not grow up with this being a priority, and maybe that is why it took me so long,” she said. “But the truth is, you are worth it at any age. You deserve to invest in yourself.”
